Nancy Shugart was told during her senior year in college to change her major because she'd never be able to get the job she wanted. Why did she refuse to give up? This program is ideal for both students with and without a disability for it is delivered by a person who has experienced many of the same challenges that your students will face in searching for a job. Having a disability did not keep Nancy from securing the job she had always wanted. She will provide evidence that, no matter how difficult their situation may be, your students hold the power to get their dream job when they discover the keys to getting hired! 3. Let The Dream Begin! Perfect for Orientation, Welcome Week, and Back to School! This fun, motivational, and interactive program will have students and parents excited about the new journey on which they are about to embark! Using personal stories, humor, and even a little magic, students and parents will hear how Nancy Shugart, who is blind, dared to achieve what most said would be impossible, how she nearly dropped out of college, and what happened to cause her to absolutely refuse to give up. More importantly, students will learn how to insure their own college success and parents will learn the important role they have in this exciting journey! Before this program ends, students will be convinced that nothing can stand in their way of earning their degree and parents will be so very proud of their decision to have their son or daughter pursue a higher education at your fine college or university! 4. How can a woman who is blind know how to lead when she can't see where she's going? Learn what had to happen in Nancy Shugart's life to force her to want to lead and to stop following behind other people. More importantly, students will learn the steps they must take to develop invaluable leadership skills. These skills will be brought to life with personal stories, humor and, if the audience is good, (smile) a little magic!
